Avelar Creek is a 143-acre Community Development District (CDD). This planned residential community, consisting of 549 lots, has 30 percent of the site preserved as open space, including wetland conservation areas. A mix of home sizes, including townhomes,have access to a community recreation center and a meandering creek with open spaces on either side, which bisects the site. Formerly a dairy farm with old tree growth, the property is located on the west side of U.S. Highway 301 one mile north of Big Bend Road, between Cowley Road and Holland Road.
